First week in English

It has been a busy first week! In English, we've reviewed the first group of Jolly Phonic sounds: s, a, t, i, p and n.

Please go through the sounds in your child's lesson book ahead of each English day. There is no need to write in the lesson book though - the only writing in their should be your child's and mine!

If you are unsure of any of the sounds, you can check here.

Reviewing the letter sounds

Working on our sound sheets

Practising cursive handwriting
In Maths, we are reviewing the numbers. We reached 50 today. The aim is for all children to recognise and know the name of each number. They can practise by doing some of the Maths set tasks on their study ladder account (see back page of correspondence book for details).

Practising writing numbers 1-10

Pearl and Emily are the bingo masters for today's review of numbers 1 - 50

There are also English set tasks with s, a, t, i, p and n words. If children use Studyladder to play random games rather than choosing 'set tasks' it will not have the same reinforcing benefit as when they follow the set tasks, which complement what is covered in class.

In Discovering the World, we have been looking at the lifecycle of a butterfly, which connects with the group reading of Eric Caryle books that we are doing every afternoon.

In Art, we made birthday cards and gave one to the first birthday girl of the school year - Zoe.

Finally, in Sport: on Mondays (CP2) and Tuesday (CP1) we do playground games with Andria, we learnt the Jelly Bean game, on Wednesdays we do athletics with Bastien and on Fridays we do movement and motor skills with Sabrina!

Clambering in the Junior playground after Sport on Monday and Tuesday
